About these terms
DeviceCheck (devicecheck.online) is run by Mark Davies (47 Ravenswood Road, London SW12 9PN), an individual based in England, United Kingdom ("we", "us"). These terms apply when you use the site. By using it, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
The service
DeviceCheck gives you free tools that run in your browser to check screens, microphones, webcams, speakers, keyboards, mice and game controllers. You don't need an account. We may change, add or remove tools, or pause the site, at any time. We can't promise the site will always be available or free of errors.
Results are indicative, not a professional diagnosis
Results are a guide to help you check your equipment. They depend on your browser, operating system, device, drivers and settings. They may not find every fault, and they can sometimes show a problem that isn't really there. Measured numbers (such as refresh rate, polling rate, clicks per second and reaction time) are estimates.
Results are not a professional diagnosis. Please don't rely on them alone for a repair, a return or a warranty claim. Check with the manufacturer, the seller or a qualified technician. The sound test is not a hearing test. If you are worried about your hearing or eyesight, talk to a health professional.
Health and safety
Flashing lights and photosensitivity
The stuck pixel fixer in the dead pixel test flashes bright colours very quickly, many times a second. The full-screen colour tests and the dead pixel test also fill the screen with bright colours that change when you click, and the motion test shows a fast-moving block.
Don't use the stuck pixel fixer, or any flashing or fast-changing mode, if you or anyone who can see the screen has photosensitive epilepsy or is sensitive to flashing lights. Don't look straight at the fixer while it runs. Stop straight away and look away if you feel dizzy, see changes in your vision, have twitching eyes or muscles, feel confused, or have any movement you can't control. If that happens, get medical advice before using the site again.
Sound
Start sound tests at a low volume and turn it up slowly, especially with headphones. Very high and very low tones can be unpleasant and, at high volume, can damage your hearing or your speakers.
Screens
Bright full-screen colours, such as the white screen, can be dazzling, especially in the dark. Don't stare at a bright screen for a long time.
Trying to fix a device
The stuck pixel fixer and the tips in our guides may not fix a fault. You try them at your own risk. If your device is under warranty, check the manufacturer's advice first.
